I have a 2005 Honda Civic bought used and a 2007 Civic bought new. I bought both cars the same month in 2007. The 2005 was backed into, so we took it to the dealer. They advised that it needed $1500 worth of front end work. After taking it to another dealer, it needed no work at all! The 2007 developed an anti-freeze leak, had a dead battery and a check engine light on at 10, 000KM. The dealer replaced the battery under warranty, but was going to charge for all other repairs! Their excuse was an aftermarket air intake, which they sell! When I refused they vandalized the car, by draining the rad, tearing apart the wiring harness to make it inoperable! There parts manager, Brian Farmer was outside laughing at me that they had done all that damage and told me to sue them, that they didn't care! I am a Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic, and caught it before we took the car. They also illegally tried to charge $150 for diagnostics and anti-freeze. Shawn Curry said that they wouldn't release the car if I didn't pay! I wrote a letter outlining all of the laws that they had broken and demanded the car back. I served the papers on Friday Morning at 11:00 AM and got a call back within an hour and a half asking me to come and get the car at no charge! All this was sent to Honda Canada's Jean Robert in customer service as well.
I involved Honda Canada customer service and they refused to do anything! Jean Robert from Honda said I could take it to another dealer if I wanted! I repaired the car myself! I have registered a complaint through the Consumer Protection branch in Ontario, but the dollar value is below their threshold! I will NEVER OWN A HONDA AGAIN.
I have bought and had 23 cars over the years and these are the only two cars that I have ever owned with these kind of problems! NEVER AGAIN!
