In June 2004 my wife and I purchased a 2004 Potomac 36' fifth wheel travel trailer brand new from this RV dealer for the purchase price of $95000.00 Canadian. We were told by the salesman Koni Stroo that this was a high quality luxury RV, it did look very well built but after we purchased it and took it home the problems began.
Our first clue to Parklane being a very bad dealership was they tried to change the total amount we owed as it was not what we had agreed to pay. After they accepted our original purchase agreemant they immediatly began to treat us badly. They removed the technician that was working on the unit and basically ran us off the dealership.
The trailer sat in our driveway for one week and I went out and found puddles of water on the floor and in the carpeting. I called the service manager and he said they would send someone out to repair it, noone ever came. We used the trailer twice for weekend outings and each time we found several new problems.
Within a month we aquired a 2 page list of mechanical defects and sought out a new dealer to service the RV as we didnt want to deal with Parklane anymore. THe new dealer I chose was willing to make the repairs required untill they spoke with the service manager from Parklane and immediatly called me and said to come get my trailer as they wouldnt be able to satisfy me! I was shocked and tried to find out why one moment they were willing to make all repairs and had factory authorizations. I was then told the factory refused to repair it. I contacted the manufacturer and spoke to the owner to find out why they refuse to authorize repairs, I was told bythe owner that he had authorized all repairs and it was the repair shop that refused to make repairs.
We ended up taking the unit in severe disrepair on our holiday that Parklane was well aware we were going on. The trip was a near disaster as we found several new problems every day with the trailer along with the sidewalls cracking. After we returned we took the trailer back to Parkalne and left it as we didnt want it back untill it was repaired. It sat for 2 months on their lot untill they informed me the ywere returning the unit to the factory as there were to many repairs required. The factory was 3000 miles from our home and it was towed all the way back. It remained at the factory for 3 more months and I was called by the factory owner and told all repairs had been made.
When the trailer was returned to us we found the cracked sidewall was repaired but had already cracked again. We found many of the things were not repaired and some were not repaired properly. We immediatly towed the trailer back to Parkalne RV and left it there for another 5 months in which time they made a couple of the necessary repairs but refused to admit the trailer was a lemon. We hired a lawyer to try and get some action from Parkalne RV and finally towed the trailer away unrepaired to proceed with a lawsuite.
As it stands now we have taken the trailer to 2 seperate RV dealers for a written report on the condition of the trailer and have spent over $10000.00 to the dealers and our lawyer and still dont have any type of written report. Both dealers just gave me a runaround and held the trailer for bogus charges and failed to give any type of report.
