Canadian Tire Auto Service
Charged for services that obviosly weren't performed, and overcharged for excess parts

The brake lines in my car blew and I was required to take my car to the local Canadian Tire because it was the closest place to get it fixed.

I dropped the car off to them and they said they would call me with a quote when they had time to look at the car. They called a few hours later indicating they would have to do a brake inspection before performing any work on the car, and that they would replace the entire break line system. They quoted this work at $400.They called the next night and said the car was fixed and to come and pick it up. I went and paid for it, at $500.

I was driving to visit some friends and family about 5 days later, and realized that my braks were not working properly. I took the car to my boyfriends dad who is a mechanic. He looked at the brakes and said they were totally gone, and needed to be replaced. He said Canadian Tire Auto Service Dept. should not have allowed me to drive the car off the lot with the brakes in this condition. Being a mechanic, I gave him money for the brakes parts, and he replaced them.

I called my dad to tell him what was going on, and I ended up reading the bill to him. Being a former car parts dealer, he told me that I was overcharged for the brake line tubing, and that they charged me for 20 ft of extra tubing that was not needed.

I was VERY upset that I had paid for a brake inspection not even a week prior to the incident, when they were obviosly not inspected, and also overcharged. I took my car, and the reciept for the work I had done with them, as well as the receipt for the brake parts to the store I had it fixed at. I wanted to know why I was charged for a brake inspection and then not even a week later, my brakes failed.

I was told they would need to get the work order for the car to see what the machanic wrote down about the car... I waited 20 minutes for them to find it. They came back and told me they were unable to find the work order, and I would have to come back on Monday.

I was so angry that they were brushing me off, I went home and called the Customer Service number and demanded an investigation into this matter... suprise, suprise, they also brushed me off by telling me they would have to call me back.

I am still waiting for this call back, and I will be calling the head office to get some answers...
