New York Fries
TERRIBLE customer service, shortchanged, would not honor sign, could not contact company

I had a terrible experience with New York Fries that left me angered, and completely unsatisfied as a consumer. It happened a few months ago, but I feel that it warrants an entry on this site.

Date: November 11, 2008 - 4:54PM.

Location: Central City Mall, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

-Unreasonably long wait, as employee was more interested in speaking with friend than attending waiting customers. Was not serviced until friend departed.

To be fair, the friend was a customer-however, the lengthy chat was not due to business related matters.

-Had to communicate order several times before employee correctly took my order.

-Employee PURPOSELY DID NOT GIVE CORRECT CHANGE-short changed by 2 cents, as 'there were no more pennies' (the employee's exact words).

-Cup was not sufficiently filled-fries did not reach, or go past the rim. Did not feel that I got my money's worth, or the proper size requested.

-Employee did not give receipt. There was a sign on the cash register thatstated that orders without receipts would be free-employee would not honor this when issue was brought up (and retrieved the receipt for me then).

The employee then stated that the order would only have been free if he disposed of the receipt-I retorted that the sign did not have such specifications. If this is indeed the case, I feel it should have been properly presented as such.

I then asked to speak to the manager, but was told he was not present. Employee then proceeded to vocalize a phone number, stating that I 'would not get much out of it.'

As I did not have any means of transcribing said number, I merely asked for the manager's name and left, intending to send a complaint to New York Fries directly.

On their official website, there is an e-mail listed for comments and suggestions.

I e-mailed them twice listing the grievances above-my e-mail bounced back BOTH times (and yes, the address was correct-I copied and pasted it from their site!). The errors stated that there was 'no such user'.

I realize that a phone number and physical address are also listed, but I was not willing to waste any more money on that company.

I used to purchase from New York Fries frequently, but have not (and NEVER will again) since this incident. The faulty e-mail address implies to me that poor customer service is a COMPANY wide issue.
