Briskow Investments contacted me from an online request for a debt consolidation loan, claiming they specialized in poor credit loans. They requested identification and bank account information and informed me I had been qualified for a 36 month loan.
The only condition was that I pre-pay 3-months worth of loan payments prior to the funds being deposited in my bank account. I wired the 3-month payment to them and was told the funds would be deposited in 24-48 hours in my checking account. That was on 11/22/02.
When the funds were not deposited I contacted Brisko and inquired as to the hold up. I was told they made a mistake and needed to make 5 months payments in advance. I refused and cancelled the transaction. I requested an immediate refund of my money. I was told it would take 2 weeks for the refund check to arrive. It still hasn't.
I am an educated individual. I have a Master's Degree and investigate things for my employment. I was in a tight situation and as the old saying goes, "If it seems too good to be true, It probably is."
Don't fall into this trap!
