When I went to the mail on 07/27/09 I knew this was a scam. Watching the news can really pay off. This letter said I won $250, 000.00 payable to you in a certified check.
They sent a check for $4660.00 saying that the Non-Resident Government Service Tax Payable to your tax agent by MONEYGRAM.
If I had won that amount of money, take the fee out and send the rest. I realize there are people that get taken with scams like this, but if you never entered a contest, why would you win anything?
There are 3 different names used in this letter, Claims Agent: Angela Russell, Tax Agent: Dorothy Little, Promotions Manager: James Peterson.
When I got up this morning I decided to do some research. That is how I found usaconsumercomplaints.com. There just happened to be a report about somebody else receiving an identical letter. This was very illuminating.
The other report made said they did some homework, said no funds available in the account the check was written on, and nobody answered the phone.
Honestly I didn't call, because I knew this was a scam.
I am making this report, because I don't want anybody throwing away their hard earned money.
Please don't fall for scams like this, It's not worth it!
