Wanted to move back to the house we built by ourselves, but lost to inscrupulous mortgage lender. Wanted to use this much needed money to get back to it

My husband and i (with the help of a friend) built what we thought would be our retirement home, which included sawing the timber, taking it to the sawmill, sawing it into lumber, bring it back home and using it to build the house. we too received a check from the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (note the initials FWCI) for (you guessed it) $2, 899.00.

I did find an Association of Wall and Ceiling, Inc. (AWCI) The bank on the check is legitimate; the routing number is legitimate. We took the check to the bank and asked one of the tellers if it was real. Sure enough, it came back on the computer as a fraudulent check.

Lucky for us, we had it verified before we lost any money, but that still does not help us find the money to get back to our house we are so desperately wanting to do. We received the check from a company called First Star Grants, Inc., so if you receive any mail from these people; send everything you get from them to your State's Attorney's Office.
