At the end of November, Blake Applebaum from 24 Hour Loans contacted me regarding a $5, 000 loan. He said he was given my name and number. At the time, I thought it was legit because I had been looking for a loan to help adopt a baby. He told me I qualified for a $5, 000 loan, but I had to prepay some of it first.
I sent him $900 and some dollars. He said the money would be direct deposited in a day or two. It never ways. After repeatedly calls and emails, he told me I had to send him more money. Like a fool, I did. I ended up sending $1674.00 to him.
Needless to say, the $5, 000 never materialized. In Dec, he said my refund check was in the mail. I have been sending him emails since because it has never shown up. I have left him repeatedly voicemails too. Those he never answered. He did answer most of the earlier emails. He hasnt returned one since Feb. I have tried calling the number, and I get a recording that it's no longer available.
I have filled compliants with the Better Business Bureau, the Internet Fraud Committee, the Illinois Attorney General and the Canadian Mounted Police. I have even contacted CNN. The only one I have heard back from is the Illinois Attorney Generals office. They replied that they would work on it.
I even contacted a private attorney. He wouldnt take the case because it was really a small one according to his office. So, no one really helps you either, even if you have been wronged. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
