This letter really had us fooled. I received a letter over the weekend Frm APEX-GOLD, Inc., informing me that this was a final notification for funds distribution for a North American Prize Pool in the amount of $49, 380.00.
With the letter was an Official Check drawn on the TeleCom Credit Union located in Michigan, in the amount of $2, 650.42. I had my doubts but still deposited the check.
On Monday 12/18/06, I called the Claim Line as the letter instructed and spoke with Sarah. She informed me that I was to wire $2, 400.00 of the original $2, 650.42 to a Robert Ball in Regina, Canada.
When I asked why this individual, she informed me that if I were to make it (Wire) to a company, it would cost me more. This is when I decided to do some research on the internet.
Internet search turned up that this was a scam. I'm not out any money, just a little disappointed that it wasn't real and how I could have ruined Christmas if I had sent the money. Beware!
