Liberty Financial Inc
They tried to scam a dead man!

My father recieved a letter in the mail dated Oct. 24, 2008 from Liberty Financial Inc. stating that he won 125, 000USD from a total prize of 1.25MILLION USD from the 2008 North American Sweepstakes Lottery that was held on Sept. 25, 2008 and that it was shared among 10 other "declared winners."

And his claim # is CA/TD-0051. And with that letter was a check in the amount of $4980. It said to do nothing with the check until my dad contacted a Mr. James Adams for further instructions.

He was suppose to put the check in the bank and then send them $3980 of that check by either western union or moneygram. That was to pay for the taxes for the total winnings.

Well there's only one little problem with this situation. My father is dead and has been since 2002. So me wanting to believe this is for real, I called the number they gave me. Because I'm thinking that maybe since I was the beneficiary that I was entitled to his winnings. I am his only child and I have 3 children to support so of course I was wishfull thinking.

Well I actually talked to someone claiming to be James Adams and he didn't ask me for any kind of information other than the claim #. He told me to put the check in my account and to call him back when it clears for further instructions. And then we hung up. I sat for a second and then I called back again. I just wasn't completely convinced that this was real.

He answers the phone again. And I ask him point blank "is this for real? " And he said "Yes, you won 125, 000 dollars." I'm thinking to myself, this guy never even bothered to prove whether I actually am the real person that supposedly won in the first place. And another thing too a name like James Adams is just too common. Not to mention he had an accent from some other country like Iraq or somewhere like that. It sure wasn't Canadian or American that's for sure.

I just didn't think the name matched the accent. I would think a James Adams would speak better english than that. Anyway I showed the letter and the check to my neighbor and she suggested that I go online and find out if the company was even real or not.

And so I typed in 2008 North American Sweepstakes Lottery and your site came up. I'm so glad I did that first before depositing that check. I just can't beleive that there are actually people out there scamming poor innocent people out of thousands of dollars just to get rich. I mean shouldn't there be law against that crap.

And in this case they are trying to scam a dead guy. How can my father win a lottery drawing in 2008 when he's been dead since 2002. I'm just wondering where they get there information about all these people. I'ts disgusting and inhumane in my opinion. I'm just glad I got the chance to speak up about this scam and maybe help someone else in the future avoid losing out on alot of money. Thank you canada-complaints.com reports.
