I live in southern california and was a potential victim of a telephone scam today. I received a call from someone pretending to be my nephew whom i have not seen or talked to in 10 years (who lives in North Carolina) who claimed to be in jail on drug charges in Hudson, Canada. He said he needed $3000 American dollars bail money. I asked to talk to the police holding him.
The "policeman" gave me this phone number: 514-660-5628 and address:120 Carson Ave, Hudson, Canada H4J7FG and his name as Sgt. James Dokes. I became suspicious, hung up and did some internet searches on my own only to find that this phone number is a cell number in Montreal with Fido Solutions as its provider. I called my nephew to find that the 19 year old is safe and well in North Carolina.
During my internet searches another site: Canada-Complaints.com listed another scam-Publisher's Clearinghouse which uses a cell number provided by this same cell company. I have left a telephone message with Montreal Police department about this scam and also emailed Fido Solutions about it. Please include this on your site and send this out internationally so this person and his criminal partners get shut down now.
