My wife recieved a letter in the mail.it stated they were strategic marketing and that my wife was a winner of there consumer rewards program. It said that her consumer rewards prize was forwarded to there clearing/disbursement institution to release the funds to her. Her lump sum payout was us$9, 000.00 she was to contact a sally thompson at 1-905-781-7049 as soon as she recieved this letter for further instructions on how to claim her grand prize winnings. Now for the hook, line and sinker they enclosed a check for us$998.73 it said per your state regulations (whatever that means) then it went on to say she would be required to pay a tax and processing fee before your lump sum winning can be sent to you. Payment will be made to your tax agent. You will also need to fax your tax receipt to the fax number above. Unfortunately my wife got excited cause we have been strugling as of late to keep up with bills due to slow business.
my wife also enters alot of drawings and such and gets involved in surveys (which ive always been weary of) so she deposited the check and the bank put the funds directly into our account for immediate use well turns out the check is fraudulant and now our account is negative the only good thing is that my wife didnt western union the us$881.00 to a casey smithson which i guess is there tax agent or we would be in more debt.she realized she was being scamed when the front of the money gram said help prevent consumer fraud if you are sending money to claim lottery or prize winnings or on a promise of recieving a large amount of money cancel transfer immediately .we feel stupid but because off stress and hardship we dove in head first and now dont know what to do please any help or advise would be greatly appreciated we have 3 young children and were really struggling before this now were in a real mess and im scared that this being out of canada there may be nothing we can do but if anything hopefully this will stop someone else from getting scamed like us.
