Another phony Canadian financial services tax agent referral for redemption of a retail lottery draw win. They sent me a check for 4K or so and said I needed to cash it and call the claims agent back to be directed how to pay the 3K or so non-residential gst tax via a tax agent.
The company on the check is listed in google in Morristown, TN but has no website info and the phone number led me to an automated after hours message. The kicker is that there is no white pages listing in Canada for this company but a reverse phone number look up told me it was to a cell phone registered in Vancouver, British Columbia The kicker is that the PCPR address is listed in new brunswick just north of Maine and British Columbia is north of Seattle, WA
I also plan on taking my envelope back to the Post Office and reporting it as a phony check and possible calling back my claims agent to ask why his phone number is listed in B.C. and the company in New Brunswick.
