I was sent a check in the mail with Kennicott Brothers Company name on a JP Morgan Chase Bank check in the amount of $4, 985.00 signed by Mary Chris Johnson. The body of the letter says in short, I won a Promotional Sweepstakes Lottery of $248, 000.00. To expedite the processing, enclosed is a check of $4, 985.00. The tax amount is $3, 975.00 which is to be moneygramed from Wal-Mart to Pacific Lottery Corp.

The letter gave a telephone number (905-781-2585) to call for instructions. I called because the lawyer I work for and I were curious to what they have to say. They said to deposit the check and wait until 2 days, when it clears, send us $3, 975.00 by moneygram at any Wal-Mart location. This check is real and official looking and will probably either bounce or you will owe the company from which the money came from that money.

I did an internet search on Pacific Lottery Corporation and the real website has this scam warning on their site.
