On 6/7/2008 I received a letter from the subject company enclosing a check for $4, 880.00 from Aquarius Irrigation Supply, Inc. in Hawthorne, NJ drawn on PNC Bank in Philadelphia.
The letter went on to say that I was a winner in a "Super Seven Contest" and am entitled to a lump sum of $250, 000.00 once the taxes on that sum had been paid.
The tax amount is $2, 985.00 to be paid by a moneygram that can be purchased from Walmart.
I am to contact my claim agent, Brenda Jones, before attempting to cash my check at 905-598-1072.
After a quick Internet search I determined that this is an attempted ripoff. Most likely their check would bounce and I would be out a $2, 985.00 money order!
One good thing about growing older - you get cynical as hell about stuff like this and don't get scammed!
Do not - ever - pay someone to get contest winnings for you. Taxes would be between you and your Government only, do not pay tax money to anybody else!
