I received a check in the amount of $4, 650 saying that I had won the $465, 000.00 as a second category winner in the USA Mega Draw held 3/14/2008. The entry slip number was 3874501 (the same as others have posted on this site) and the winning numbers were 22-24-38-41-47 (again, the same as others have posted on this site).
The check received was to "assist" in paying the taxes owed in the amount of $3, 650. I was to contact Jerry Nelson at 604-779-7714 immediately for him to "activate" the check.
The check was drawn on CitiBank, N.A. in New Castle, DE, and the company name on the check was The Standard Insurance Company, with a P.O. Box in Charlotte, NC. While all parts of the check looked to be official, I have not seen a check from the US that the routing number was not listed first. On this check, the check number was first.
After calling Citibank, N.A. to confirm if the check was fraudulent, they told me they could find no record of the account number, routing number or the company.
If anyone else receives a check like this, do not try to deposit the funds or cash the check. You will be held liable for any charges incurred in your bank account because of this.
