My friend received a Claim notice advising that she had won US $80, 000 dollars payable by bank draft or certified check. This was for a Compensation Lottery drawing. A check for $3, 500 (on Capital One Bank out of LA) was enclosed for payment of the Government Service Tax (they asked you to send by moneygram or western union to an address in Canada). Wanted you to contact your assigned claims agent, Kevin Smith for further instructions on how to claim your winnings. There was never an answer, only a recording. I cannot find any information on this company. So, I think the three names included should be investigated. The check looks very official and could probably be cashed with no problem at the local bank (I am sure that is what they are wishing for).
How do you win a lottery in Canada and never buy a ticket??? I wish the lotteries in the US worked that way!!!
