Unclaimed Prize Money Scam Return Address On Envelope: P.O. Box 4000, STN BReturn Address On Envelope: P.O. Box 4000, STN B

I did not act on receiving this letter. the letter states that I am the lucky winner of unclaimed prizes, of $57, 000.00 in U.S. funds. And there is an actual check enclosed with the letter, in the amount of $3, 872.99. The letter states that I need to cash the check (it is a legitimate check) and it cover both administrative and clearance fees of my winnings.

I looked up this scam on the internet, and it says that if I cash this check, it will most likely clear, but someone else will be victimized, and once they file the complaint, I will be liable for depositing a fraudulent check. It says to call that number listed above and speak to Monica Thompson. no later than Nov. 22nd. Claim number: US/CA-07/09-037WD. Also at the top of the letter, the reference number is NPF 894661W078. There are some typos and punctuation mistakes in the letter.

The check is issued by MCI, 22001 Loudon County Parkway, Ashburn VA 20147. It is a Bank of America check. Check number: 1004952221. and it looks like is was electronically signed by a Robert Brakely, or Blakely.
the routing number and bank number on the bottom of the check are as follows:
1004952221 071923284 8765850125

DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!! IT SEEMS SO TEMPTING TO GO CASH THAT CHECK. Believe me, I would love that money! But it is illegal, and you will be unknowingly, indirectly victimizing someone else! I have filed a report with the Postal Inspection Service to catch these crooks.
