Hello there. This is what I got in the mail today (the comments in parenthese are mine):

First, a check (very real looking), for $6550. In the left corner:
PAX WORLD FUNDS
101 SABIN STREET
PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND 02860
This CHECK must be deposited by payee and cleared through the payee's bank

The bank on the check is PNC BANK, PHILADELHIA, PA

Second, in the left-hand corner, The National Lottery symbol (which is apparently a UK company)...

Third, A red banner with the word Lotto in red and blue. Under the banner reads: MANAGEMENT AND PAYMENT CENTRE (in red, underlined)
Sweepstakes and E-Games Payment Verification Centre (blue)
GOVERNMENT ACCREDITED LICENSED!!! (in yellow)
REIGISTERED UNDER THE DATA PROTECTION ACT: (in black)
Claim # 2006/828/9908
REF # CIHS? 00004/BC/2009

Fourth, ATTENTION

Subject: Award Claim Final Notification (purple, underlined)

This is to inform you of the release of the North American Prize Pool as
sponsored by a group of companies in North America. Your name attached
to the sweepstakes number 021-3316-671 with a serial number of 4157-09
drew the lucky number of 09-07-22-30-41 Bonus 20 which consequently
won a sweepstake in the 2nd category? (why the question mark?)

You have therefore been approved for a payment of $100, 000.00 USD (Hundred Thousand US Dollars Only) (their parentheses this time) in cash credited to file with the Ref: CIHS/0004/BC/2009
This is from a total cash prize of USD$3, 000, 000.00 shared among (30) (once again, theirs) International winners in this category.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

To expediate the processing, enclosed is a deposit check of $6, 550.00 US Dollars, which has been deducted from your winning. You will be using some of the money on his first check to pay for Insurance and processing fees. This is a requirement of the International lottery management body, which governs all lottery organization.

Please note that the tax associated with your winning has been paid and we will be sending out to you the Tax Clearance letter along with the rest of your winning. There is a security code attached to the check, which has been put in place to ensure that fradulent claims are not processed. Last: The envelope said canadapost. I don't know if this is a Canadian scam however, since there are addresses from Rhode Island and Philadelphia and the National Lottery is from UK. It looks like something from the Internet, which should be a category. I hope that this is stopped, because don't like the fact that someone can steal my information on the internet and use it to steal money from me.
