I also recieved a notification of winning the $48, 500USD cash and was sent a check for $2, 985.00 dollars. I have not cashed the check do to the suspicious letter reguarding the winnings. The letter also tells to call the coordingators Mrs. Antonia Jenkins or Mr. Jerome Thomas at 1-306-351-4379.
The letter starts out by saying Congratulations on your success as one of the winners of NORTH AMERICAN UTILITIES draw held on Monday April 12th, 2007. Participants were selected through a computer ballot system, drawn from 149, 000 telephone numbers and utilities bills of the individuals who sign up for the services.
Then it goes on about the winnings and how to secure the winnings until the prize money is received to avoid multiple claims. It also says that the $2, 985.00 check is enclosed and covers the charges/fees required to be paid prior to receiving the winnings. It will also say that this is from total prize money of $5, 654, 000.00 shared among winners...
so thanks to the others who also reported this same report i can confirm my feelings for this letter and check to be fraud and a scam...
