I received a phone call for a credit card offer from Simple Choice Benefits. I had been on the internet researching ways to build my credit back up after my divorce, so I thought this was a good idea. I know I should have checked into it further, but I didn't.
I gave them my checking account information for the $249.00 charge. I had serious doubts after I was told that it could take up to 40 days to receive my card, but I had already given them the info.
Then a couple of weeks later I received a card in the mail about another charge for $69.oo that was taken out of my account for some kind of long distance phone service. When I contacted that company I was told that the authorization had come from Simple Choice Benefits and that I could not get a refund.
I have not been able to contact the company, the line is always busy or I get a recording. I am a single mom with three small kids and no child support. I feel terrible about throwing that money away as much as we need it, but at least now I know that I'm not the only one who fell for their scam.
