Linn Chau Restaurant
Poor service, worse food

I've always preferred Linn Chau to other Chinese restaurants in my area, simply because they had the best Lo Mein. The other day, my family called in an order, at around five O'Clock, and they said it would be ready around quarter after five.

So we actually end up hitting traffic on the way, and don't get there until about five-twenty. They say the order isn't quite ready, but will be shortly.

Long story short, we ended up waiting there until six thirty, before we finally got our food. In that time, over a dozen people got their food, whether they had called it in or not, and many of them with orders bigger than ours.

Then, to top it off, the food itself was terrible. The chicken for the Lo Mein was not the normal kind, but the kind they use in their spicy General Tso's chicken. Our lemon chicken was neither lemon, nor chicken (upon further examination, it turned out to be beef), they had completely forgotten my father's order of spareribs, and the sweet and sour chicken balls were largely nothing but dough, which I expect from most Chinese food places, but Linn Chau, up until this point, actually did them quite well.

And of course, they forgot plum sauce and the fortune cookies, but after waiting for over an hour, I could have cared less about those.

When we called to complain, they did offer us a free order of spareribs, to be given whenever we choose, but we've yet to see if they make good on that. It was the only redeeeming thing about the experience.

I don't know if they're under new management, or if their cook had problems, or what it is that happened, but I was completely dissatisfied, and seriously consider never going back. It's a shame, too, because they had such good food, and good service every other time we went there, and they were easily my favourite Chinese place in the whole city.
