Purchased a Kenmore [made by whirlpool] dishwasher and within 11 months noticed a few rust spots on the racks. I have had this happen on very old dishwashers here and there and while it was a pain it was not a drastic problem. Over the busy Christmas season I noticed rust stains on some of my new white dishes. Well... by January I finally looked closely and the entire rack is cracked and rusting in hundreds of places!!! Of course when I looked at my warranty I am one month late to claim however the totally rusted rack did not just begin rusting yesterday! The Sears Customer Service Department protected themselves with their handy dandy one year Warranty! There is no retribution with the company other than buying another two racks [when will they rust? ] for $200!!! There is a definite lemon thing happening with these whirlpool dishwasher racks. Who sells a dishwasher, washer, bath tub or even a pool that will rust all over within a year? There should a law even if it's for the sake of the environment that penalizes companies who produce appliances that degrade within 11-13 months after purchase!!! Manufacturers and large companies like Sears and Whirlpool are operating in bad faith if they simply defend themselves against obvious poor quality with their one year warranty!!!
