I put an ad in our local newpaper to sell a donkey for $500.00. I was contacted by someone through a TTY operator (for the hearing impaired). It all seem Ok as I was told to please email information about the donkey and the price I was asking.
Once I sent the first email, it progressed from there. Emails were coming from a person named Oleg Harrision. A Check was sent to me in the amount of $3, 000 from Mr. Mathew James at Globel Trust Financial, Inc. and I was asked to cash the check and wire the money difference to Jones Cole at 90 Robson Street Vancouver, BC V6Z 2E7, Canada.
Upon recieving all of this new information, we were sure that this was a scam, especially after noticing that the check had typo errors. I did search on the internet and find that the phone number for Mr. James (204) 887-5312 is linked to other scams for puppies that were for sale.
It is unfortunate that these scammers are using the hearing impaired TTY lines for their scams. I sure hope that someone call their bluff. I am getting several calls a day from this person now and do not know how to top the calls. I did contact the local authorities and hopefully they can figure out a way to make the call stop.
