Ripoff forged check to my name wanting acct info

I recieved through the postal mail that i won $275 thousand dollars with an enclosed cashiers check in my name for $2, 800 which was to pay for the insurance on my winnings, but i have to call them before depositing into checking acct. so i called them & they told me after the i deposit the check in my acct to call them back in which i did call them back but before i did, i followed up on the check & the bank it was issued under they told me it is a fraud cashiers check. what can i do now? & what can or will happen to the people doing this to me & so many others. please help me. thank you!
