I am constantly getting calls from telemarketers at my home while I am at work. One day my sister told me that some people from a credit card company called and left information for me regarding my credit card. She said they just needed to verify my information. I don't know exactly what she told them but she SAYS she didn't tell them anything but only took the message.
Later when I got home I noticed a call on my caller ID with the name Ghettosoft Media. I laughed and asked everyone who that was and what kind of company would use that name. No one in my family knew who called from there.
A few weeks later, I look at my bank statement online and notice that my account is overdrawn. I noticed an $89 charge. I clicked on the link to view the check and it was an electronic check made out to Ghettosoft Media with all of my information on it. It also had a customer service number that I tried to call but only got a recording.
After doing that I came to this site and found one other report about GSM. I printed the report and the check and took them to my bank branch. I filled out the forms and within days my bank refunded my account the $25 NSF fee and the $89. I also changed my account so that this won't happen again.
I was very happy that I was able to get this resolved so quickly but I wish there was something I could do so that this doesn't happen to other people.
