I am a graduate from the Blanche McDonald Centre of 2008 in the Fashion Merchandising Program. Since then I have struggled greatly trying to find a career in the field of Fashion styling. My education at Blanche Macdonald was a joke, I don't have many regrets in life but attending an unrecognized school is one of them. The amount of money I spent to attend this school will trouble me for the rest of my life.
While attending this school they ensured me that I would be able to get into entry level fashion merchandising positions, when I graduated I couldn't even get a manager position at a retail store with my 6 years retail experience and this “Fashion Merchandising Diploma".
I currently live in one of the capitals of fashion (London, UK) for the past 4 years and still finding it difficult even to get a sales assistant job in a fashion retail sector. I have tried everything, I have personal connections with luxury brands, and they cannot even help me with an internship because of the education I received is from an unrecognizable school.
The standard of education when compared to The London School of Fashion College is far more complex than the study at Blanche Macdonald.
The other reason I felt robbed of my education, is how unprofessional the "teachers" were at Blanche Macdonald. I had my Fashion Styling teacher make a rumour up about a fellow student of having an affair with another teacher, while other pupils treated her differently, when approached the acting director of Blanche Macdonald of the incident it was simply ignored and asked if it was true. Also my business teacher, was very unprofessional and the curriculum was irrelevant to the Business section of the course, he made me sick with the perverted stares at students and made my experience in his class very uncomfortable that I would skip class from time to time.
