Maax Canada, Inc. manufactures, distributes and offers for sale tubs, showers and steam generators that do not meet the Massachusetts plumbing code. These units are displayed prominently on showroom floors of plumbing supply houses, but once installed, the plumbing inspector cannot give a final sign-off because the units are not listed as approved by the State of Massachusetts. Personally, I have a pre-plumbed shower and tub/shower combination with accessories totalling in excess of $7, 000 sitting in my stock because they are not approved. The total lavatory renovation is now at a standstill, tying up over $20, 000 in investment. I have been unable to obtain a scheduled fixture approval date from Maax, and have also been unable to secure a satisfactory financial offset for my delayed project and loss of available capital.
