We purchased a 2006 Land rover lr3 for the purpose of towing a big tent trailer, our Envoy (V6) was straining. We talked to the sales rep and told him what we wanted (V8) and what it was for, he said "this is a V8", we looked under the hood and everything was buried (couldn't tell whether it was 6 or 8) so we took the salesman's word. we went home and did the Car Fax report and it came back as a V6, I brought it into Ninth Avenue Auto and he said "they're wrong it was a V8". We bought the SUV as we trusted the "community dealership" and thought nothing of it, until we went to get the oil changed, turns out it was a V6 (contract says V8). I contacted the owner and he was kind enough to give us 1000.00 back with the stipulation they would find us a LR3 with what we wanted to begin with, the difference we would have to pay was 2000.00 for the bigger motor, we agreed.
Two months go by, we get a phone call from the sales rep asking how were liking our new ride... we asked how they were doing on the search with no reply. three more months pass and he calls back asking if we were still interested as they have one with a V8... the upsell??? they wanted another 6 grand for a lr3 that was a year older and had 20 thousand more kilometers on it. We left a message for the owner to contact us and never heard from them again. In the end we're right where we started from, the proud owners of an underpowered tow vehicle
