Denham Crystal Chrysler
Negligent Misrepresentation of almost new car. When confronted they abused and mistreated me. They should be known as ripoff con-artists

I am an 18 yr old business/law student working towards my degree. Over the past year or so I have saved and saved to be able to buy a new (ish) car so that I would be able to have something to drive to the UofA that I wouldn't have to be repairing every month.

I have owned my newish car (its a 2000 but only has 40, 000km) for less than 2 weeks and I have been told that the repairs it needs can't be done until after the warantee expires (well they actually did one strut & company but didn't do the other even though the mechanic left a note saying it needs it) and that my cars paint (which is not covered by my very short warantee) is shoddy and will very soon all flake of and leave me with nothing. (The paint part of my issue is identical to another guy who bought a car from another denham chrysler if you would like evidence and backup) But lets start at the begining.

I searched and search and bargained with dealers and finally settled on a 2000 Black Pontiac Sunfire from Denham Crystal Chrysler in Fort Sask. only because they beat out another dealer with the same vehicle by a few hundred dollars. Little did I know how much that $300 would cost me. Please note that among the things the salesman told me he said that with the remaining warantee (about 10 days left) I couls take the car to a pontiac dealer and get it checked out and all of the defective parts fixed. He neglected to tell me that I have to pay for the inspection, a complete one starts at about $150.

I drove the car away from the parking lot the next day only to find that the doorlocks, which I had not had a chance to test because they had opened it for me during the test drive, would absolutely not move and once finally forced open it was even nearly impossible to use the locklever insde the car to get them open as well.

When I took the car to the dealer to get this fixed they took the car for a day and told me they couldn't replicate that problem or the leaking coolant I noticed. The only way I can prove the door lock issue I was told was to pay about $60 to have someone take apart the doors to actually get to the mechanism to be able to say that the problem I know I have is actually there and needs to be fixed. As well there was so much slack in the emergency break that it would not catch at all. So I took it in to the dealer and had them take a look, sure enough the car not only needed a brake adjustment (which the dealer I bought it from said they did because the car needed it right before I bought it and when I asked them to double check it because I felt something in the test drive said they re-checked/fixed it) but yes the e-brake was hooked up incorrectly and needed to be fixed. The work was placed under adjustments and was not covered by warantee.

Also around the same time I began to here extremely loud squeaking noises coming from the front wheel areas (right and left) of the car. I took the car into the dealer and they assesed the situation and amazingly replicated it and promptly only fixed the drivers side. On the report I got back the mechanic has written a note saying that the left side should be checked and probably needs the same repair. (Yes, now I only hear the squeak from the left side) However they cant fit me in until after my warantee expires. (4 days)

Also my hearter suddenly quit and I complained about that at the same time as the squeaking. Well yes it needs a part and will be covered by warantee but they have no means of course to get the part here and the car in until the warantee expires.

Getting very frustrated I took my car for an inspection to an AMA and Delco certified place my parents recomended. They found the same coolant leak. I paid nearly a hundred dollars for this inspection. I now have it booked in with 3 days to go. Hopefully they can replicate it =)

However this is not the least of my problems. After I got the car back from the inspection at a non-dealership automotive place I noticed a huge (the diameter of a loonie) chunk of paint gone from my bumper and drove back to confront them. This led to a big mess with myself getting upset (I think you would understand that after all of this a girl has a right to finally break down and cry) and them denying it. They sent me to Southgate VW AutoBody and had their guy check it out. The man will have been working for just VW autobody, yet alone the industry, for 20 years next year. He immediately diagnosed that bad quality paint had been used on the bumper, without a doubt, and had me wait while he wrote up a statement to back me up stating clearly that there is absolutely no sign of any colision what-so-ever. (he said my bumper could be practically paintless within a year just because it would all chip off) If you go into archives you will find a man with the exact same problem on his car which he bought from another denham chrystal chrysler and only though persistant pressure from everyone did they finally come forward to reimburse him for his expenses.

I have owned this car for less than 2 weeks and have had nothing but defensive to the point of intimidatingly abusive representatives tell me that I have to take the fall for all of these things (including my soon to be paintless bumper on my less than 2 week old car) Please petition Denham Chrysler to at least repaint my flaking car. Thanks for your time!
