Bristol West Insurance Group, Darrall R. Bradshaw, President 778858 Scam Check Looks Real but would cause me to loose $4, 965.44 to my bank. Cash check and Send Western Union. Kamloops & Seattle and Washington

Bristol West Insurance Group sent me a "Claims" check for $4965.44. The letter says the check is for "the mandatory payment of Non-Canadian residential tax, insurance, and delivery charges pertaining to your $250, 000.00 winning." The letter says my name was drawn in the annual CONSUMER'S PROMOTIONAL DRAW, organized for customers of major retailers e.g. Target, Wal-Mart, Sears, Macy's, Home Depot, Zellers, etc.

This check looks real and has BNY Mellon, Pittsburgh, PA on it. The routing and account numbers along the bottom are:

0668542 043301601 000 1353

The check number is 0000668542. This insurance check has a claim number on it and a loss date of August 4, 2009.

The letter that came with it says my name has been drawn in the annual Consumer's Promotional Draw. I am supposed to call Gregory McCain: 778-858-2751. My claim number is: ORS-890076-ZL.

This check is supposed to cover the taxes due of $4783.72 by Money Gram/Western Union. I am to send it to HELEN DRIVER, 2706 BAINING BLVD, KAMLOOPS, CANADA.

The letter has a picture and beside it the name Darrall R. Bradshaw, President 778-858-2457.

The letterhead address is 4920 BELMORAL AVENUE NE, SEATTLE, WA 982447TY8-3865.

I am glad that I know this is a scam. I am concerned about others in my little town who may not know this is a scam and will get ripped off over $5, 000. Think of the real checks that will bounce because this check is deposited and the funds are withdrawn.

What can we do to shut this scam down?
