If you are currently working or looking at working with Rick Burley or Steve Chapman beware! They owe me $20, 500 which was agreed to be paid by July 4th 2009. That date has come and gone and they are no longer returning phone calls or emails. They have zero integrity, if you're even considering doing any kind of business with them, run away fast!
These two run various "investment opportunities" based out of the Calgary area. Their current "opportunity" is an art investment deal, their company name is Venturion. Go to Venturion.ca.
In the fall of 2006 I invested in a pre-ipo stock opportunity through them. Last year they sent out a memo stating that they were willing to buy back shares for those wanting to sell instead of waiting out the term until the company went public. In March 2009 I approached them about selling. They agreed to buy back my shares for the price of $20500 and requested 90days to get the money together. That date has come and gone and they are no longer returning phone calls or emails.
They are some of the most incompetent, untrustworthy people I have ever dealt with. Even before this I had clues (unfortunately by that point I'd already bought into their program). For instance it took almost a year and a half to even receive a receipt for the shares I purchased.
Rick Burley believes that returning phone calls weeks after the voice mail messages are left is acceptable behaviour... that is if he returns the calls at all. They do not respect their clients in the slightest sayings things like "you just weren't important enough to call back on time." Funny, I was important enough before I paid you guys.
I'd say more about Steve Chapman but he's even worse than Rick in that he doesn't return calls at all. I think I've had 2 conversations with him and one of them required a trip from Toronto to their offices in Calgary
These guys are good at talking like they know what they're doing but once you invest it all goes to hell. And if you try to remind them of something they agreed to, suddenly their memory goes blank. It's like working with irresponsible children!
I was looking forward to getting my money out and never having to deal with them again but now my money is still tied up. Who knows they may be trying to run away in all their businesses. I'm in the process or getting in contact with acquaintances that I have that have invested with them to spread the word.
STAY AWAY from anything to do with Rick Burley and Steve Chapman! They are not worth the frustration not to mention the lost money!
