The letter stated that I am a 3rd place winner and that this check had to be used to pay for the fees required by article 4:16 under state law. I was to contact the company in 72 hours after receiving the letter and give them Confirmation Case number #2358769-49. Once I contacted the company, they would request the case number and the winnings would be sent to my address and if there were any changes in address to notify them to insure proper delivery. Also the letter said the payment would be made out in my name.
When I called the number the recording said the person called was not available at the time call back later. I did send a copy of the letter and a hand-written one with the correct information, but because the address was not an exsisting one, the person receiving the envelope (overnight delivery $25.95) called my number on the front of the express mail envelope and sent me the package back unopened.
