UPS UNITED PARCEL SERVICE
The Useless Parcel Service Lies about delivery attempts and doesn't provide any customer service!

Edmonton, Alberta
I've known for several years, since a previous experience that UPS stands for the Useless Parcel Service. My most recent experience has just confirmed that that's exactly what UPS stands for.

On this particular "delivery", or should I say lack thereof, there is a claim that three attempts were made to deliver my package. I can guarantee that there was NO attempt to deliver the package to my door. First of all I was home when the first two "attempts" were made. Secondly, my husband is handicapped and I have a bad back so there was snow on our sidewalk and there were no footprints in the snow indicating that someone had come to our door. As I was expecting the package I was checking my mailbox every day last week when the so-called delivery attempts were made. As a result I had to go out and make a special trip to pick the parcel up from their office.

According to the tracking record on their website it said, "A postcard has been sent to the recipient requesting that they contact UPS." No postcard was ever received which means, according to their policy, had I not tracked the parcel down myself I would not have known that their office had it for pick up so I wouldn't have picked it up within the five days allowed and my parcel would have been sent back to the shipper! How's that for service?

I sent a complaint to UPS through their website and received the response "Thank you for your tracking inquiry. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this delayed shipment has caused. I have forwarded your concerns to your local UPS Delivery Center Management for further assistance. You can expect to be contacted by the end of the business day, February 14, 2008." Guess what.. I wasn't contacted of course!

On the 14th my husband went and picked up the parcel at 4 pm. When he went he asked to speak to a manager but he had to wait a lengthy period of time for someone, a supervisor, to come and talk to him. My husband is handicapped, which is obvious as he has to use a cane, and he had to stand while he was waiting. It ended up taking him 45 minutes to do this and get the parcel.

He was finally told that they would talk to the driver, which I have my doubts will happen as it appears there is a lack of follow through with this company.

I've been discouraging people for years not to use the Useless Parcel Service but this experience has upped the ante. From now on I won't deal with anyone that uses UPS and will let companies know that's why I won't deal with them. I already informed the shipper of this parcel of what happened.

If you look you'll see lots of other similar complaints against UPS. Don't use their "service". anyone else would be better!!!
