Chev Truck General Motors
Ripoff Is Trying To Avoid Major Warranty Expenditures Yarmouth

I purchased a 2002 Cvev 4X4 1/2 Ton pickup.

It has been to returned to the dealer numerous times for an abnormal "knocking or heavy tapping noise" in the engine. It is audible at 100 feet at idle.
It has only 15000 miles on it and has had this condition since 3000 miles. It is gradually getting worse. People ask me what is wrong with the engine all the time.

It is my understanding that GM has a masive amount of engines on these vehicles with the same problem and it appears that they are trying to avoid repairing them. Even though most dealers are under self administered warranty, they seem to not be allowed to fix these complaints but must have the factory warranty representative listen to the engine and make the decision whether it requires repair or not.

In my case, after several trips to the dealer, I was told to bring it there on a specific day for the rep to listen to it. I was later advised that he refused to listen to it because I was there and later was told by the dealership that GM has refused to allow the dealership to repair it under warranty.

A month or so later I complained again and some 3 weeks later was asked to bring it to the dealer again and this time I left it and assume it was looked at because of the greasy hand print left on the hood. Again, 2 days later the dealership informed me that they are not authorized to repair because it is not as bad as some others.

If I wanted an engine that hammers I would have purchased the deisel option.

I feel this is extremely unfair not to repair this vehicle under warranty.

I own 3 2002 GM vehicles and they will likely be the last.

I would consider trading it for a Ford but they rightly don't want it with a noise in the engine.

I think I am not alone, at least in dealing with GM Canada.

Ideas?
