Canadian Telcos
Telemarketing

Large Telcos continue to harass me with promos for additional services via 3rd party call centres.

Telemarketing calls, from CLID 000-000-0000, 123-456-7890, 234-567-8901 or blocked continue to plague my landline.

It seems obvious that large telcos in Canada are paying 3rd party/affiliates to market additional services to me. Or at least - the affiliates are rewarded enough for 0.01% sales that .. they continue to do it (make cold calls)..

I, a dedicated, loyal, Bell landline phone service client -- know that making sales/marketing calls to me is a waste of time. Rogers has a nice "escalate to pres, then ombudsman" interface. While I don't believe that Rogers' pres/ombudsman will actually function - to get me any kind of result where both Bell and Rogers STOP paying for 3rd party marketing affiliates out of the country -- it's sweet that Rogers has such an interface.

What can we consumers do? I've called Bell and Rogers - asked them to not harass me. Neither of them pay attention. These "free phone" and whatnot calls continue.. always about telecom services.

Is this some rogue marketing VP that's approved direct marketing (Calls to my home) via third party "affiliate" calls..? What's the process to find that VP? Call client support 47 times..? What if I call in and announce that I have a call center, fully staffed and scripted.. ready to go, essentially..? Think if I was selling a sales/cost to Bell, I'd have a better chance at reaching that VP of Marketing than if I was just a client that received his/her message..?

I'm sick and tired. I'm going to sign up for the next free phone that I get a call about. I'm going to attempt to track the cash, from the affiliate, back to Rogers/Bell.

Anyone else in Canada noticed that the Telcos are pushing via 3rd parties..?
