A letter comes in the mail from Brasco International Lotto stating "FINAL NOTIFICATION! CONGRATULATIONS!!! " your name was attached to a ticket number that was drawn in the Netherlands and you won the lottery in the third place category with winnings of $120, 0000.
A check by one of their financial sponsors is enclosed for the amount of $1, 998 intendend to help pay your taxes. The check looks completely real, the bank and check cashers cannot tell that it's counterfeit until the check is returned.
When you call to claim your winnings they want you to cash the check and then send the money through a person to person MOney Gram but the person you need to send it to is a close friend or relative that doesn't live in Canada. They explained it as this being the way the Canadian government collects its taxes.
I called the Canadian Revenue Service and they told me there are no taxes on any lottery winnings in Canada. I called the alleged Brasco Internalional Lotto back and asked them if there are no taxes for Canada why are we sending the money via money gram. I also asked if the drawing was held in the Natherlands why is the phone number for Canada as well as the one on the check wich is drawn up from the Bank of Oklahoma.
The women that I spoke with got very agitated by the fact that I repeatedly called them scam artist and very irate when I discussed the conversation I had with the C.R.S. and angrily told me that she was going to take my name off of the winnings list and hung up.
PLEASE FOR EVERYONE OUT THERE EVENTHOUGH IT MAY SOUND GOOD, CHECK IT OUT.
The address from the Netherlands is also a fake the real company Brasco International head office is in Detroit, MI and they make bus shelters and things of that nature.
