This company wanted us to call them after we had deposited their $2000.00 check

I called the number listed in the letter, to find out exactly what the scam was about. I was told by the agent to deposit the check into my account, and to call them back after I had done so.

I asked the agent in what city her company was located. She told my that they were from Connecticut. I asked again what city, and she refused to answer my question, but wanted to know why I needed to know. I told her that I wanted to check them out with the BBB before I did anything. She hung up.

The letter was mailed from Mississauga, Ontario. The agent said that they were located in Connecticut. The check is from New Castle, Delaware. The company on the check is Black & Decker Inc. from Townson, Maryland.
