I get a letter in the mail from the Bank of Montreal. It says I am a sweepstakes winner of 318, 000. They enclosed a check of 4750.25 as my initial payment. It said to call Mark Davis or Brenda Parker before depositing the check so they could activate my account. They said deposit the check first thing in the morning and then call them. The funny thing is the check had a company called IMMI (a safety harness company out of Indiana) on the check. I called them and they stated it was a scam. I wanted to get to the bottom of it so I called Mark Davis back and told him I deposited the check. He told me to send a check to Linda Edwards (tax agent) for 3880.00 for the non residential tax. I told him I wasn't sending anything because I knew it was a scam. I proceeded to let him know I contacted the appropriate authorities and he hung up on me. I have been calling back all day and he won't answer the phone.
The bank said the check was fake and there have been several of these sent out in the last couple of weeks. She said they are coming from Canada and Ireland. Never send any money to anyone!! It's always a scam.
