Sold non-functional software, then would respond to inquiries only with auto-reply

I purchased Registry Patrol 3.0, and was promised Spyware for free. When I attempted to download the product the spyware would not download, and Registry Patrol would not function properly without the spyware.

I attempted to contact the company numerous times within the next few days, but each time I got the auto-response that they would get back to me within 24 to 48 hours, depending on workload. Most of the buttons on the Registry Patrol website are not active, and I never could get any response other than the above.

I sent one final email telling them that I must assume them to be fraudulent and that I intended to report them as such. I received the same auto-response as before. At that time, I uninstalled their software from my PC.

I went to the web and entered Registry Patrol Reviews and saw, "Beware of Registry Patrol-CNET PC Utilities Forums." Upon checking that site's information I learned that Registry Patrol has a bad reputation in general.

I contacted PayPal and learned to my surprise that they could not help me because I did not purchase the software from eBay. Now it appears I have simply donated my $29.95 to some unscrupulous character. I had my credit card canceled the week following my initial purchase from this company.
