Gulf Coast Market Research - Market Research Survey Sent a check for promised money for doing mystery shopping, but when I called American State Bank I was told such account exist

I received a letter from Gulf Coast Market Research with a check enclosed. They promised me a job as a mystery shopper with places like Walmart, Sears, Home Depot, CVS, Western Union or Money Gram. I was told to cash said check then go shopping at one of previously named stores. I was suppose to get a money wire for a large portion of the check and send to fax number 1-914-931-7546. If I did this I was promised a job that could eventually help me make up to $400 weekly for mystery shopping.

American State Bank was called and a bank employee named Elena informed me that said account did not exist.
