After being contracted to sign material for a local charitable organization I utilized Graphic Lettering Services to output the artwork onto three, double-sided banners. I specifically asked that the material be opaque so as not to allow the light to shine through affecting the imagery on the back. I picked up the material and delivered it to the client.
Upon inspecting the material it was found (by the client) that the light indeed did shine through affecting the image on the back. Graphic Lettering Services was informed and the job was output a second time, this time on a new, more expensive material which I was charged the difference for. This material was added to one of the sides of the posters only.
Unfortunately, on delivery, the signs fell apart as the adhesive released. I took the job back. They reoutput the job on the new material only which I had to pay for again, and I could not argue as my clients deadline was near. The client took the material to their office for installation and found that the material was completely wrinkled and that it had begun to adhere to itself.
I explained to Graphic Lettering Services that I wanted a refund and they refused. They offered to compensate me with material output from their facility but, at this point I have lost a client due to their poor work and I do not wish to deal with them. The owner, Peter Hoekstra was arrogant and rude, stating that he did not have the money to give back to me and that they were a small business that could not afford that loss. I do not believe this at all. He went on to insult and question the integrity of the client for whom I was completing the work. This was unacceptable!
Since this experience I have had a number of complaints from other companies and individuals regarding the quality of the work but not to the extent of my complaint. I do not believe that this is a quality company offering quality service and that they are a hack shop that will not stand behind their work.
