The first email I received from 'Dr Bill' read as follows:
Hello,
My name is Dr Bill, I need a babysitter for my twins, i live in london Canada but am coming down to your area in the state for a Six Weeks seminar and am coming down with my set of twins, i lost my wife some months back and i cant leave my babies behinde here in Canada.
Please get back to me if you are intrested in babysitting for my twins. I need someone that will take care of them as her own baby. Please get back to be on time so we can arrange how possible this will be.

I had a craigslist listing for childcare and he found it and took advantage! Some of the emails that followed included strange things like:
1. father of a twin baby girl, They are two years old. So that means you are caring for 2 girls from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Transportation would be in your vehicle as I want them totally in your care at the above time frame
2. Hi, Thanks for the prompt response, I have informed my colleague that i have gotten someone who will be caring for my Kids and am really looking up to the care you will give to my KIDS.I will have the deposit and the payment for your service for babysitting my Kids made to you prior to my arrival, Also I have contacted a store that will be shipping the KIDS item to your address with the KIDS toys, i just want to inform you about this and i will be forwarding money for the KIDS item plus your a month wages, so you can forward the money for the KIDS item to the Store Manager and she can send the items to you before i arrive with the KIDS and so you can put everything in place prior to our arrival. Get back to me with you full name and address including your phone number.
Anticipating to meet you and get the best care for the KIDS.Also i will be staying in an hotel, i will let you know the exact address before we arrive. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks Dr Bill

4. Information reaching me now from FedEx that you are in receipt of the paycheck. It was delivered this morning, the 24th Oct, 2008.Here is what you would do now, take the check to your bank and have it deposited into your account for cash out immediately. As soon as you have the funds later today, you would proceed with the following: Deduct $500 which covers upfront deposit for your services of babysitting my KIDS while you send $650 to the store agent who would be supplying you with the KIDS items on Monday via Overnight courier. Proceed to a nearby Western union outlet with the $650 for the store manager and have it sent Western Union to the store with the below information:
NAME: TW YOUNG
CITY: NEW RICHMOND
STATE: OHIO
ZIP CODE:45157
As soon as the wire transfer is made, get back immediately with the wire transfer information: The total amount sent after deducting the western union charges from the "$650" with you and The MTCN number. I will forward these details to the store who would release the baby items immediately to you. Thanks Dr Bill
And this is the last I've heard of 'Dr Bill'. We fortunately, caught it in time and taking the money to our bank because we suspect that the paycheck was a fake anyhow. We did not give him any personal information, and only used a business address to have the paycheck sent to. Fortunately I found safe ways around every thing... but appareantly I'm a bit naive when it comes to hoping people really are who they say they are and will do as they say they will.
If any one else hears from this man, please contact me! I would love to see him put away. Lying about a dead wife and sending phony pictures of two beautiful little twin girls. This man is sick in the head.
Watch out for anyone offering you money. Even if you receive a check, have it scanned right away at your bank for authenticity. DO NOT cash a paycheck from any one other than a personally known source. And certainly, do not Western Union money (or any other form of wiring) for anyone that you don't know personally.
Fortunately, we caught this scam artist in time. I just fret that so many others might not!
