Internet scam with almost $5, 000.00 check sent to me as internet winner Montreal/st.louis, missouri

I was contacted through email saying my email address won a random drawing. They said they would send it. Afew days later I received a letter and a check for $4995.00 but the letter with it said the ck. was for $4950.00 but I could not cash the check as it was to pay the taxes on the winnings. Also the tax amount to be paid by western union or moneygram was $2995.00. Wow what a scam.

Anyway they give one address on ck. which is Applegate sec. inc. 727 north first st. St. Louis, Mo 63102 and the letter said applegate sec. inc. international claim dep. at 100 front st. Montreal Ont. H4N-3L4. They also said I would receive $250, 000.00 from a total of 5 million and 20 other winners picked from over 50, 000 names. The letter was signed bob morris and mary long (promotion manager) I could not use ck until I called within 5 days. I did not call but immediately ck your web site. Thanks!
