ALLSPORTS REPLAY was opened in 1984 in Red Deer, Alberta by Roy and Linda Ellithorpe. They had resided in the Red Deer area since 1969-70. While trying to find some used cross country ski equipment for their two small daughters, they decided there had to be a way to move used sporting equipment from those people who didn t use it anymore to those people who needed it. They thought of sports as something that the whole family could do but the equipment was so expensive. They decided that Red Deer and area people should have a place where sporting goods were accessible all year round, and people should have options as to the disposal of their equipment. They rounded up their own down hill ski equipment, bikes, tennis racquets, and skates and opened up a store in the 2500 sq. ft. old Bus Depot in downtown Red Deer.
