In 1990, Co-Founders Gabe and Rossana Magnotta saw a world of opportunity through entrepreneurial eyes and the public was quick to recognize the quality and value of the products they created. In less than 15 years, Magnotta became Ontario ’s 3rd largest winery in volume of sales. It was the LCBO ’s last minute announcement in 1990 that they had no shelf space available for Magnotta products that triggered an emergency re-draft of their marketing plans. Selling directly to the public, they overcame adversity, offering consumers a high-quality, low-cost alternative that earned the company the mark of excellence. Ten and a half years later, Magnotta and the LCBO reached a mediated settlement; this brought some of Magnotta ’s Icewines into select LCBO stores across Ontario.
