Years ago, the founders of Mobilearth got together and discussed the future of Internet banking. All of them agreed that mobile banking was the wave of the future but at the time of the discussion, the security technology was not available to make it a reality. Flash forward to the advent of WAP 2.0 technology. When the original Internet enabled mobile devices were introduced, they used WAP 1.x technology, where encrypted information was unencrypted at the telephone carrier servers so it could be re-encrypted using Internet standards. This led to the security concern otherwise referred to as the "WAP Gap". WAP 2.0 was introduced in June 2003 and became the mobile standard in January 2004. It allowed information to stay encrypted from start to finish; the telephone companies now acted as a gateway, pushing the information along, leaving the information encrypted end to end. Based on this new technology, the founders of TRG Mobilearth Incorporated decided to build a software solution for mobile banking unlike any other solution currently in the market. The result is an application built by bankers for banks. It is an internet banking solution designed specifically for internet enabled mobile devices using standard 128-bit SSL v.3 TLS v.1, WTLS v1.0 encryption. Straightforward and simple for customers to use; minimal training is required for employees to maintain the application. The second hurdle in development was the decision between a downloadable application and the WAP browser based solution. To fully understand the implications of our decision we referred back to the introduction of Internet banking in 1995. Internet banking never really exploded until the downloadable application was replaced by a browser based solution. Why?
