Since 1996 Birth Partnership Midwifery Services has supported a "community of caregivers", from a variety of educational backgrounds; who have been duly registered to practice midwifery in the Province of Alberta. All the midwives at Birth Partnership are dedicated to providing women & families with safe, childbirth alternatives. As individuals with unique personalities we share a common philosophy, to meet the needs of mothers and families, providing them with as positive a pregnancy and birth experience possible. We have confidence in the inner strengths of women and the power of the birth process. We believe that we have the knowledge and skills to support and protect the most powerful force of nature - new life! Birth Partnership Midwifery Services is a group of midwives practicing in teams of two or three. As a practice we share administrative services and provide back-up to each other when required. However, each team has their own caseload of clients. An individual client will see the midwives on her team for all of her prenatal care and will get to know both midwives over the course of her pregnancy. When a woman goes into labour, it is the midwife on call for her team who will care for her. As the time of birth gets near, her midwife will call in another midwife for assistance. This midwife may be the other midwife on her team, but could be a midwife from another team depending on the workload and the midwives available. ...
