I was first given contact details of Gerry Miller back in early 2007 through a web site forum for UK Police emigrating or wishing to emigrate to Australia, New Zealand or Canada. My initial contact was via email. Gerry replied straight away and answered any questions that I had. I arranged to meet up with him when I was next in Calgary. In April 2007, my family and I flew to Calgary on a house hunting trip and we drove up to Cochrane to meet with Gerry. For me, first impressions always count. We were met by Gerry s wife, Linda who is also his Executive Assistant. I realized that it was a family run business and we were made to feel very welcome. Whilst my wife and I went to Gerry s office, our six year old son was entertained elsewhere in the building, allowing us to concentrate on the matters in hand! Gerry told us of his background in Agriculture and that he had been active in the Financial Services Industry since 1991. His professional, passionate and helpful nature was very comforting and reassuring. We went through our financial situation and I supplied him with all my Police pension details from the UK. In return, Gerry supplied us with documents, facts and figures and there was no hard sell as I had been subject to in the UK. Gerry agreed to act on our behalf and arrange to bring my pension to Canada. I am happy that he will place it in the best possible pension plan here in Canada. The fact that Vision Financial Incorporatedis a family business means that it is more personal than these larger financial groups. I would recommend anyone who is moving to Calgary to contact Gerry and meet up with him. He has a good working knowledge of the UK police pension scheme now and I feel confident in the fact that he will put my nest egg in the best place so we can retire to that log cabin in the mountains one day!
