Xstrata Copper has successfully introduced PASS to their Kidd Creek Mine and the Kidd Met Site in Ontario. In addition, PASS has been launched at their Horne Smelter in Rouyn-Noranda and CCR Refinery in Montreal, Quebec. Xstrata Nickel is benefiting from PASS at their Central Shops and at the Nickel Rim Mine, both in Sudbury, On. Diavik Diamond (Rio Tinto) has established PASS in both their Operations and Expansion Projects. Cementation is benefiting from PASS at several of their Projects: Diavik; Coleman Shaft; Totten; Nickel Rim and New Afton. Cementation, USA at Resolution Copper Project, Phoenix, AZ, have done an excellent job implementing and establishing PASS at their underground operation. Over TWO YEARS without a Lost Time Incident. Well Done! OCI Wyoming in Green River, WY has recently been awarded the IMA-NA Safety Achievement Award in the Large Mine Category for the best reportable injury rate in 2009. Congratulations to everyone involved. Forestry Key Suppliers AG & G Sinton s operation has had a Logging Crew achieve Five years without a Lost Time Accidents. Excellent! PJ & MJ Olsen s operation went just under a year without a Lost Time Accident. BHP New Zealand Steel, located in Glenbrook, South Auckland, has set a NEW Site Safety Record of 121 days without a Lost Time Accident. The Lost Time Injury (LTI) 12 month rolling frequency for April 2007 is 4.5. This trend continues the improvement from last month s new benchmark of 5.1. The Iron Plant has progressed from strength to strength and has just gone LTI free for the last twelve months. The Steel Making Maintenance Department, using PASS, has gone almost 3 years without an LTI. Great work by all involved! Jim, Quick note to say thanks for all your help and support in the development of both the TranzLink operations in Auckland and the Kinleith Log Yard. My journey here in NZ was made much easier by your presence. The use of the PASS program proved itself time again as one of the best overall methods for improving safety from the ground up and developing a communication system for operations among all the staff. I could wax on but suffice it to say that I must say that much of the success I have enjoyed here in New Zealand is due to the system you developed. I really miss our chats during your visits and learned a great deal through them. The key thing I will keep with me always is pride the organizations developed in their accomplishments over time.
